Channel One Sound System are one of the world’s best known dub reggae sound systems. Running for over 30 years, Channel One built up their reputation as one of the main sound systems at Notting Hill Carnival, now they play out every weekend all over the UK and Europe. Channel One is made up of selector Mikey Dread playing roots reggae and consious steppas, the sound is completed by MC Ras Kayleb.

Moa Anbessa is a collective of experienced musicians and singers, a roots/dub reggae sound system and a recording studio based in Venice (Italy) and active since 2001 but in other forms since the early nineties. Moa Anbessa actually runs the « Venice Dub Club » roots and culture monthly session and is regularly having sessions around Italy and Europe. Moa Anbessa Studio unceasingly creates dubplate versions and exclusive music for some of the biggest international producers and sound systems

PODCAST – ITW : DUBKASM

Follow the link and listen our interview with the dub activists DJ Stryda and Digistep, members of Dubkasm, outta UK. We met them at the last Reggae Bus Festival in september 2013. Dubkasm is one of the key components in the international roots and dub movement, originally formed in 1994 during the emergence period of the UK ‘digital dub’ sound.

Digistep is playing sax and DJ Stryda is running his own radio show : Suffera’s Choice. They released some of their tunes on their recordlabel called Suffera’s Choice as well. This interview is about the soundsystem culture, their carreer and their big tune called « Victory ».

PODCAST – ITW : SOLO BANTON

Nouvelle interview en podcast avec Solo Banton!

Cette fois-ci, c’est au Brussels Reggae Festival que notre micro s’est arrêté. Le chanteur anglais s’est produit sur la dub stage du festival. Solo Banton est un des chanteurs les plus en vue de la scène reggae actuelle et est capable de chanter sur des style complètement différents : dancehall, dubstep, drum&bass et bien sûr reggae!

C’est une première, c’est un autre artiste qui se prend au jeu du journaliste puisque Solo a répondu aux questions de Lion Paw (Cultural Warriors). C’était l’occasion pour ce dernier de mieux connaitre Solo puisque c’était la première fois qu’ils jouaient ensemble. Solo nous y parle entre autre de son backgroud musical et de Dubkasm avec qui il se produit souvent. Portrait!
